How I feel about my surroundings often dictates the mood of my art, whether it's the openness and grandeur of the Coast or the texture of the Tuscan hills. Feeding off the inspiration of the land and the surrounding light, and, reflecting on nature's richness, I incorporate color and design with expressive brushwork to communicate a personal impression.

Some of my early influences were The Impressionists, Homer, Marin and Andrew Wyeth. My art has evolved into a slightly non-traditional approach to watercolor, while retaining the spontaneous and fresh effects that first attracted me to this process. Guided by the intuitive energy that goes into my painting my goal is to transform nature's palette into an emotional experience for the viewer.
